Calgary, Alberta (Episode #28)
Calgary, the home of the world renowned
Calgary Stampede where the world's rodeo participants and enthusiasts
gather each year to turn the city on its head! Calgary, as the capital
city of Alberta, is also the center of major growth and expansion
of its diverse economy. Taste of Life visits The XL Ranch at Dorothy,
just east of Calgary and sees the origins of the best beef to be
had in Canada. We then visit Caesar's Steakhouse, the unchanged
home of the very best steaks in the city for past 27 years. Co-owner
Gus Giannoulis and Head Chef Richard Pantaluk show us how Caesar's
has remained the choice of Calgary's power diners since the day
they opened the doors.

Caesar's Steakhouse
Opened 27 years ago, Caesar's is virtually
unchanged since the day it started business. The décor,
menu, and executive chef are all unchanged. So they must
have it right!!! They opened a second location in 1985 and
the three owners, Nick, Louis and Gus all work in the business
to ensure that this homage to Alberta Beef continues to
deliver on its promise every day of the year, as much in
the new millennium as it did when they started the business.
Chef Richard Panteluk still BBQ's the steaks the same way
he did when he started and today's diners are still lining
up for the very best beef to be found.

Dorothy Ranch
For Taste of Life's visit to the Calgary
Region, the Cast and Crew were lucky enough to stay on a
working ranch, where cattle are raised in the fresh, natural
environment of the Alberta Prairies. Here, wide open spaces,
rich grasslands, fresh air and water from the Rocky Mountains
which rise in front of your eyes, all combine to produce
the wonderful Beef so respected throughout Canada. Owner
Jim Patillo shares with us some of his thoughts on how the
Alberta Cattle Producers work to ensure the very best beef
gets onto the consumer's plate.
