Sorrento, Italy (Episode #41)
We visit the beautiful city of Sorrento, perched high on the cliffs above the Bay of Naples. To the north, the slopes of Mount Vesuvius and to the south, the jet-set coast of Amalfi to the stunning town of Positano.
We visit The Restaurant Caruso, right off the Piazzo Tasso, where
owner (Paolo Esposito) and Executive Chef (Antonio Cosentino) pay
daily homage to the most famous tenor (of the same name) from this
region. Simple, delicious food, fine wine and true personal service
are the hallmarks of this most famous restaurant, while original
78 records play on the oldest of gramophones, under walls adorned
with original artwork from the maestro himself.
Then we visit the Lemoncello factory to see Sorrento's most famous
aperitif product. The city is surrounded by citrus groves looking
over the blue seas along the coastline. Finally, we visit the home
of fine craftsmanship to see how inlaid wooden furniture is made
here, before shipping to devoted customers all over the world.
